14th International Conference on Condensed Matter Nuclear Science (ICCF-14)
As of today, the official conference Web site does not show the abstracts, speakers' schedule or press release. The conference begins in 11 days at the Hyatt Regency on Capitol Hill, Washington, D.C., and runs Aug. 10-15. Conference organizers are David Nagel and Michael Melich.
Homeland Insecurity
New Energy Times' sources in Russia report great difficulty - at least for the physicists among them - in obtaining U.S. visas to attend the conference. Nonphysicists have been granted visas.
As of July 23, five key researchers, according to sources, have not been granted visas.
"Curiously enough," one source reports, "at the U.S. consulate they had been offered to fill in an additional form and a CV to be scrutinized by the State Dept. They have been waiting for their visas for more than six weeks now and are not sure whether they'll be able to come to the conference at all."
